What happens before, during and after
The first visit is for the adults. Your child comes to the second.
- Before
Step 1: Before: a call and the paperwork
You call or write, and Carmen returns your message. You get the consent forms and a written fee estimate if you pay without insurance.
- Visit 1
Step 2: During: the adults talk
Fifty minutes in the quiet room. You say what you notice, ask your questions and hear how the play room works and what stays private.
- Visit 2
Step 3: Then: the child's first visit
Your child sees the play room with you nearby, and Carmen follows what the child chooses. A parent joins for the last few minutes.
- When you ask
Step 4: After: a plan you can follow
You and Carmen look at how the visits are going and what comes next. You can continue, change the pace or stop.
The play room, where the child joins at the second visit
Nothing in the room is a test.
The shelves hold sand, blocks, puppets and art supplies, and a small sofa and a quiet corner are there for a child who needs a minute. Carmen tells your child who she is and what the room is for, in plain words, at the start.
